The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is a work of art itself. The interior of the building features a spiral ramp that is reminiscent of 1930s science fiction. Artwork is displayed on the walls and is viewed as visitors ascend the ramp. The ramp is actually an unrealized design for a Planetarium that Wright had designed to be built in Maryland.

Some critics find that the building is not well suited for the display of art. However, others will point out the importance of this building in Frank Lloyd Wright's development.

The administrative offices are ship-like and the building also features some porthole windows.
