Links

Here are some other architecture sites that you might find interesting. If you have a site you would like me to add, or if you just have a favourite architecture web site, please contact me.

General Links

Emporis.com: This is an extremely useful web site and has amazing coverage and was formerly known as skyscraper.com. It has lists of buildings in lots of cities around the world, and has information on current projects, proposed projects, buildings no longer standing, etc. You can also look up architects and see skyscrapers that they designed. I find this to be an amazing resourse.

Chicago Links

City of Chicago Architecture Tour: Who would have thought that a government web site would have such great information? This site contains "tours" of Chicago's great architecture by various categories.

Frank Lloyd Wright: One of the world's most famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright was from Chicago. This web site contains lots of information on the architect and his work. Included on the page are a building guide, a discussion of FLW's life and importance, books and organizations on FLW and plenty of links.

Chicago Imagebase: Sponsored by the University of Illinois at Chicago, this page has a lot of Chicago architecture images as well as maps and other information. It also includes an index where you can search by building name or architect.

St. Louis Links

Built St. Louis: This is the best St. Louis architecture page I have ever found. Lots of information as well as lots of pictures. The page features endangered buildings, buildings that are now gone and lots of buildings that are still around. This is a well done and informative page. Also note that this page has LOTS of St. Louis-related links.

The Fabulous Fox: This is the Fox Theatre's official web site. It contains a virtual tour of the theater as well as pages outlining the history of the theater.

Coral Courts: This web site was set up by Shellee Graham, the author of the Tales from the Coral Court: Photos and Stories from a Lost Route 66 Landmark. It's compact, but laid out nicely and contains nice pictures from her book.

Tulsa Links

Tulsa Foundation for Architecture: I was excited to learn about this site since it appears that Tulsa has a new organization devoted to local architecture. At this point, this site does not have a lot of information, but it looks like a good start.

Boston Avenue Methodist Church: This is the church's site. It contains a lot of information about the church, including its architecture. It also has lot of photos, and a virtual tour.

Other Art Deco

Art Deco Ireland: Although I tend to think of Art Deco architecture in terms of the United States, it actually got its start in Europe. This page contains good pictures and descriptive text on Art Deco architecture in Ireland.

Art Deco World: Based in Sydney Australia, this site is devoted to the buying and selling of Art Deco items. It also has a lot of links to Art Deco web sites.
